    Health Safety and Wellbeing

Here at the Grimsby Institute we highly value student health and wellbeing very highly. Working alongside the Healthy Colleges Initiative, we offer a high level of services in connection with community agencies and thrive to create a positive learning environment for all learners, producing healthy, safe and emotionally resilient students with personal fulfilment.

The services we provide by friendly and helpful staff are very accessible, with a high level of confidentiality and respect provided. A range of services are available for example: drop-in sessions, anonymous text messaging service, free ‘help yourself’ STi testing kits along with professional advice and testing; promotional stands and informal friendly tutorial sessions plus many more serving all students needs in personally preferred ways.

Each term provides learners with a separate health focus:

    • Sexual Health and Relationships
    • Healthy Eating and Physical Activity
    • Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing
All aspects of these are highlighted with the use of:
    • Promotional stands
    • Posters and flyers
    • Advice on where to find required services
    • Professional advice on health issues
    • Required contact numbers, email addresses, advised websites and drop-in sessions allowing ones preferred form of communication in order to get questions answered in the relevant health topic
    • Friendly, informal and educating tutorial sessions offering advice and guidance on the health topic along with different accessible services available if required and preferred
